Held in Place brings together six artists whose practices explore the forces and structures through which materials acquire form. Working across sculpture, painting, and textile-based processes, Tara Donovan, Eva LeWitt, Sam Moyer, Davina Semo, Rosalind Tallmadge, and Rachel Mica Weiss investigate how accumulation, tension, gravity, and suspension shape both an object's physical construction and our experience of it.
Throughout the exhibition, everyday materials become complex structures, substantial forms appear weightless, and rigid objects give rise to unexpected optical, spatial, and sensory effects. The works reveal a central paradox: the forces that constrain materials are often the very conditions that make transformation possible.
