Devin Cecil-Wishing (b. 1981, San Francisco, CA) is an oil painter based in New York City. Working exclusively from life, memory, and imagination, he employs traditional methods and materials rooted in the visual language of Dutch and Flemish painting. His work emphasizes the relationship between process and image, with particular attention to the role of light as both structure and subject.
Cecil-Wishing received a BFA with High Honors from the California College of the Arts and completed his training at the Grand Central Atelier, where he is now a core instructor. His work has been exhibited nationally, including recent presentations at Arcadia Gallery, the SPRING/BREAK Art Show, and Main Projects.
