I haven’t written anything down, but when I was making this piece, I was thinking about Etruscan sarcophagi. I love the resting figures on top of them and have been studying them for many years. The top figure is in this pose. This relief is about resting sculptures. They have done their duties (previous purpose) and now they get to relax, enjoy each other, and take naps.
