Cate Pasquarelli’s sculptures and the paintings that evolve from them depict desolate environments shaped by the weight of human traditions, nostalgias, and unease toward the future. Steepled churches, colonial-style houses, and white picket fences—symbols of pastoral American life—become distorted and unsettled in her work, reflecting both familiarity and fracture.
Pasquarelli received her BFA from The Cooper Union and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. She has exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, BravinLee Programs, Steve Turner Gallery, the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, Art on Paper, and SPRING/BREAK Art Fair in New York and Los Angeles. Recently, she exhibited with François Ghebaly and will present an upcoming exhibition at Perrotin, New York. Her residencies include The Studios at MASS MoCA, the Wassaic Project, and Cow House Studios, and she is a recipient of the Cooper Union Medici Award.
Pasquarelli currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
