Benjamin Langford

Benjamin Langford (b. 1992, Connecticut)

Benjamin Langford creates dimensional botanical wall works that blur the line between image and object. Beginning with hundreds of meticulously shot photographs, he composites each bloom into a single hyper-detailed image, printing petals on individual canvases that are stitched together and hand-painted on the reverse. Suspended from the wall, these constructions hover between photography, sculpture, and painting, reimagining botanical illustration through a sculptural lens. By merging forensic detail with tactile craft, Langford explores how technology mediates our perception of nature and how even mediated images can evoke the awe of the sublime.

Langford received a BFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014. His recent solo exhibitions include Scenes and Images (Ochi Gallery, 2025), Fresh Cut (Megan Mulrooney, Los Angeles, 2025), The Flower Thief (The Meeting, New York, 2024), Flowers (Baader-Meinhof, Omaha, 2023), Nature Morte (Baader-Meinhof, Omaha, 2022), Late Summer (Special Special, New York, 2020), and Wilt (182 Avenue C, New York, 2019). His work has also been presented in group exhibitions at venues including Fu Qiumeng (New York), Stonover Gallery (Lenox, MA), PPOW (New York), and Project:ArtSpace (New York).

He is a recipient of the Paul Krot Memorial Scholarship and the Art Society of Old Greenwich’s Robert W. Amick Scholarship, and his work has been featured in Fräulein Magazine, Surface Magazine, Musee, Wallpaper, and Harpers Bazaar Korea, among others. Langford has also collaborated with Gucci and Collina Strada.

Langford currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
