Ryan Driscoll

Ryan Driscoll (b. 1992, Corby, UK)

Ryan Driscoll is a painter whose work fuses classical myth and romantic allegory with contemporary identity, producing imagery that is both sumptuous and introspective. His compositions frequently reference Greek and Roman figures, yet they are reimagined through a queer lens: bodies entwined, objects as symbols, and psychological subtext revealed through chiaroscuro and still life. Working in oil and watercolor, Driscoll’s technique draws on art historical precedents while allowing for emotional resonance and narrative ambiguity.

Driscoll studied Fine Art at Camberwell College of Art, London, graduating in 2016.

His solo exhibitions include Sigil (Anat Ebgi, Los Angeles, 2023), and he has shown in group exhibitions in London (Soft Opening), Brussels (STEMS), Amsterdam (Grimm), and New York (Meredith Rosen), among others. In 2018 he received the British LGBTQ+ Awards Art Initiative prize.

His imagery acts as incantation: every object, pose, and gesture contributes to a personal mythology that interrogates desire, transformation, and visibility. He lives and works in Corby, UK.
